The Bachelor of Arts in Dance curriculum is designed for students who are interested in a broad general education while continuing to pursue their dance studies. This degree is suitable for students preparing for a career that incorporates dance as a major focus in their position, such as a dance studio owner, dance therapist, health care provider or arts administrator. An audition is required for entrance into the program.
The course of study will incorporate the following:
- at least 30 hours must be at the 300 or 400 level. No more than 12 hours of university general education hours may be counted toward this requirement.
Program Outcomes
Students completing the Bachelor of Arts in Dance will be able to:
- design, develop and complete collaborative projects appropriate to their discipline and career goals;
- dance in a variety of styles and/or performance settings;
- integrate an area of academic focus with dance training; and
- synthesize entrepreneurial, production, and advocacy skills appropriate to their chosen profession.
