PALM 519 Fundraising in the Arts

This course is designed to provide students with the tools necessary to understand philanthropic giving in the arts, how to plan effective fundraising efforts and how to solicit gifts from varying sources. Specific topics covered include sources of contributed income (individuals, foundations, corporations, government agencies), fundraising planning and strategy development (donor motivations, cultivation and stewardship techniques, research and revenue projections), forms of solicitation (individual “asks,” proposal writing, direct marketing campaigns), budget preparation, and monitoring and reporting for fundraising purposes.
