NPLB 650 Primary Care of Families Practicum IThis course provides the opportunity for the student to apply advanced, specialized nursing knowledge, skills, values, meanings and experiences (KSVME) gained in the core courses and NP 610 , NP 620 , or NP 630 . Practicum experiences assist in the development of the family nurse practitioner (FNP) role while under the mentorship of experienced nurse practitioner preceptors. This clinical course is designed to give the FNP student the opportunity to implement critical thinking strategies and demonstrate specialized therapeutic nursing interventions (TNI), including health promotion, in the direct care of clients across the lifespan with a focus on adults and elderly. Students will be expected to analyze and influence health patterns and to synthesize health promotion strategies and specialized TNI in partnership with clients, to positively influence health. A variety of health care settings will be available for the application of students’ KSVME. Credit(s): 3
Corequisite(s): This course must be taken after or concurrently with NP 610 or NP 620
