Ruebush Hall, Room 137, (540) 545-7285, gspice@su.edu

The Bachelor of Arts in Collaborative Audio Arts curriculum is designed for students who wish to combine a passion for creative expression with interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary study. Students identify areas of emphasis which may include AR/VR, film studies, music recording, sound reinforcement or other areas of individual interest. Students work with their primary advisor to design junior and senior years of study.

The Bachelor of Arts in Collaborative Audio Arts student proposes an area of emphasis that aligns with their professional goals and lists the course of study to be taken to fulfill those goals (at least 15 credits of coursework) during the junior and senior years. This proposal is reviewed and approved by a faculty committee comprised of the BA in Collaborative Audio Arts program chair, faculty members representing additional disciplines and the conservatory director of advising.

*Acceptance into this program for matriculated Shenandoah University students requires a minimum institutional GPA of 2.5.

The course of study will incorporate the following:

  • at least 30 hours must be at the 300 or 400 level. No more than 12 hours of university general education hours may be counted toward this requirement.
  • a six credit senior creative project (across two semesters of study) that reflects the integration of disciplines and experiences in the student’s self-designed emphasis plan.
  • competency in a second language at the intermediate level or above.
