The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design and Production curriculum is designed for the talented artist who wishes to prepare for a professional career in theatre design and production. The curriculum provides a balance of academic theatre studies with practical production experience as well as a strong base of liberal arts studies, which will enable students to think and perform creatively, and communicate effectively both as theatre professionals and as members of a global society.

Program Outcomes

Students completing the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design and Production will be able to:

  • design, develop and complete collaborative projects appropriate to their discipline and career goals;
  • demonstrate an ability to analyze dramatic literature and its performance/production in cultural and historical contexts; and
  • conceive and execute design and production work on fully produced theatrical productions.

+Theatre Design and Production Electives – Select two from: THDP 132 Theatrical Stage Makeup, THDP 201 Studio III, THDP 202 Studio IV, THDP 310 Stage Management II, THDP 321 Special Topics in Production, THDP 331 Special Topics in Costuming,   THDP 360 Theatre Sound, THDP 460 Sound Design and Effects, THDP 490 Production Collaboration, and THDP 491 Theatre Design and Production Internship.
