PMH 700 Depth Psychotherapy: Caring for the SoulThis course provides a re-visioning of mental health care that moves beyond the medical model of symptom management to identifying the underlying issues in the basic structures of the individual personality. An introduction to depth psychology provides an understanding of deeper levels of experience within the therapeutic interaction, as well as the individual self of both therapist and client. The therapeutic space, therapeutic relationship, early developmental traumas, display of affect, dream interpretation, mythology, body-oriented therapy and expressive therapy are essential components to process-oriented depth psychotherapy. Permission of instructor is required for students outside of the graduate nursing programs. Credit(s): 3
