PHRN 534 Essentials of PharmacogenomicsEssentials of Pharmacogenomics focuses upon the ways in which an individual’s genetic makeup influences his/her response to drugs, including the variable side effects that often occur in traditional courses of drug therapy. The instructors will explore the ways in which inherited factors can affect both the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of drugs. The course will build from the basics of genetic variability to a strong emphasis on the application of pharmacogenomics to common disease states. The course will lay the foundation for an understanding of the role pharmacogenomics will play in therapeutic decision-making based on an individual’s genotype. Credit(s): 2
