PHAR 652 Introduction to Mental Health for PharmacistsThis course will examine the historical treatment of mental illness in the United States from the first state hospital in Williamsburg, VA to reviewing the basics of pharmacology for psychiatric medications. Movie clips will be used to illustrate various mental illnesses. Students will be required to read and coordinate the class discussion of chapters in the required text. Students will also be required to conduct a presentation on a topic of their choice. Visits to the local National Alliance of the Mentally Ill chapter (NAMI) are possible. Credit(s): 1.5
