Speech-Language Pathology (M.S.)

The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology is designed to prepare graduates for certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), license by the Board of Audiology and Speech Pathology of Virginia and to work as Speech-language Pathologists in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, long-term health care facilities, and private practice.

Admission Requirements:
  • A recommended Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders OR a Bachelor’s of Science with the following prerequisites:
    • Biological Science
    • Physical Science
    • Social/Behavioral Science
    • Statistics
    • Introduction to Communication Disorders 
    • Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Hearing Mechanism
    • Phonetics
    • Normal Speech and Language Development
    • Introduction to Audiology
    • Speech Science
    • Observation in Communication Disorders*
    • Obtain a minimum of 25 hours of guided clinical observation under a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist(s) (Part of course requirements)
