The Nutrition and Dietetics Graduate Program is an accredited program leading to the Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist credential. Students who successfully complete this program will earn a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. It is a competency based program that integrates didactic education with experiential learning and supervised practice to prepare students for the future of Dietetics practice. This program combines critical thinking, problem analysis and scientific inquiry to train graduate students for the expanded scope of practice to meet the needs of a continually complex and diverse profession. Reflective activities and self-directed learning allow the student to develop skills at a pace appropriate for individual learning. Successful completion of the graduate program will prepare the next generation of nutrition professionals who are trained to meet the nutritional needs of individuals and local communities.
This graduate progam will promote nutritional health and wellness through dissemination of evidence-based knowledge to individuals and local communities. This program aligns with the mission of the Division of Nutrition and Dietetics to educate and inspire Dietetics Professionals to enhance the health and wellness of individuals and communities through evidence-based knowledge and prepare students with advanced practice skills necessary to become a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist.
This program is designed for students entering with a completed Bachelor’s degree that have maintained an overall GPA of 3.0. Pre-requisite courses required are Anatomy, Physiology, Statistics and an Introductory Nutrition course. The admissions process requires: application, three letters of recommendation, professional statement of interest essay and interview.
