The DNP program is designed to prepare clinical nurses with advanced knowledge, skills, values, meanings and experiences necessary to manage health care in a safe, effective and efficient manner and in a variety of settings.

The School of Nursing offers the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at two levels: BSN-to-DNP and Post-Master’s DNP

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Outcomes

Graduates of the Doctor of Nursing Practice will be able to: 

• Synthesize theoretical knowledge and clinical judgment for the design of evidence-based and systems-based practice for diverse populations.
• Analyze ethical principles and evidence-based practice consistent with the inclusive, high-quality, safe, and compassionate design of healthcare.
• Integrate, through competency-based evaluation, the design, management, and leadership of evidence-based practice efforts in policy, practice, interprofessional collaboration, population health, and healthcare technology.
• Construct interprofessional dialogues and maximize healthcare technologies to optimize leadership of systems-based and evidence-based practice.
• Develop a sustainable professional nursing identity and perspective which reflects critical thinking, accountability, scholarship, advocacy, and dissemination. 

Post-Master’s DNP

The Post-Master’s DNP can be completed by nurses with MSN degrees and advanced practice nursing certification. 

At the completion of the program, students in the Post-Master’s DNP are required to have 500 clock hours of supervised clinical experiences. The experiences depend on the type of DNP project and made in collaboration with faculty. The student must have completed and provide evidence of 500 clinical hours in an MSN and/or MSN post-grad certificate program prior to entering the Post-Master’s DNP program.
