The Master of Music in Pedagogy - Voice curriculum prepares post-baccalaureate students for meaningful and satisfying careers as private voice teachers. The curriculum encompasses contemporary and classical functional training for the singing voice. Interdisciplinary courses targeting pedagogy, anatomy, technology, career skills and applied voice lessons provide the education required to succeed professionally as a voice pedagogue.

This degree could be called a “low residency” online program, as it can be completed almost fully online or by a combination of face-to-face and online courses. We have three residency courses in the summer that are part of the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute which we require students to attend in person.

Program Outcomes

Students completing the Master of Music in Pedagogy degree will be able to:

  • utilize voice science and related pedagogical concepts in the teaching of voice, and
  • perform collaboratively at an advanced level of study commensurate with the master degree

Admission to the Master of Music in Pedagogy with a Keyboard or Instrumental focus has been temporarily suspended. The program has not been terminated but no applications are being accepted at this time.
