The Bachelor of Science in Animal Health and Science includes a robust, science-based interdisciplinary program that prepares learners 1) to critically evaluate the roles of animals in our society, 2) for careers in animal health, science and medicine, 3) for graduate school in animal science-based programs, and 4) for acceptance into veterinary school. Students will gain the knowledge, skills and professionalism necessary to promote and safeguard the health and welfare of animals across various species and settings, including clinics, rehabilitation clinics, shelters, research institutions and conservation management programs. Students aspiring to earn careers in the diverse discipline of animal health and science will experience individualized pathways. These pathways will lead to careers concentrating in farms, laboratories, zoos and wildlife rehabilitation/medicine and management and will also prepare students for graduate school in animal science and veterinary school.

Animal Health and Science Required Core Courses
All students seeking a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Animal Health and Science are required to complete the following core courses in the animal health program (30 credits). Pathway
In addition to the core courses, students must choose one of the following pathways for their degree. Pre-Veterinary Pathway Required Courses
Students seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Health and Science with a Pre-Veterinary School Pathway are required to complete the following courses (38 credits). Please note that many veterinary medicine schools (not all) require:
- 2 semesters of General Biology with labs
- 1 semester of Organic Chemisty with lab
- 2 semesters of Physics with labs
- 1 semester of Biochemisty with lab
- 2 semesters of Math (algebra, pre-calculus, statistics or calculus)
Wildlife Conservation Pathway Required Courses
Students seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Health and Science with a Wildlife Conservation Pathway are required to complete the following courses (32 credits).
Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Requirement
Students seeking a Bachelor of Arts in Animal Health and Welfare are required to successfully complete courses to promote equality, embrace diversity, and foster a more inclusive society the following courses (choose 1 for 3 credits).
