Business Administration, Management Concentration (B.B.A.)

The undergraduate degree program in Business Administration is called the BBA. The BBA is a general management program. In addition to satisfying the general requirements of the BBA, students must organize their electives to satisfy one of the concentrations described after the description of the BBA.

Four elements compose the 120 credit hour degree program*:

ShenEd General Education Courses 30 credits
Non-Business Elective Courses 18 credits
Business Core Courses 42 credits
BBA Supporting Elective Courses 24 credits
Free Elective Courses 6 credits
Total 120 credits

*A grade of “C-” or better is required of each School of Business (BA, EC, IST, SM) course counted toward a major, minor or certificate.

The Management curriculum develops student awareness of management functions, theory and skills within local and global environments. Students learn to use both quantitative and behavioral methods to achieve organizational goals through effective utilization of human and material resources. Individual courses engage the students in problem solving through case analysis, simulation and experiential methods to foster an appreciation of different management approaches in a variety of systems.

ShenEd General Education Requirement


Students must conform to the general education requirements of the university that specify coursework over seven domains of knowledge. The following general education courses will be taken by all business students and will fulfill 18 of the required 30 hours of coursework. Students should work closely with their mentor to ensure they complete the general education requirements in a timely fashion.

Non-Business Elective Courses


  • A course in either Sociology or Psychology Credit(s): 3
  • Other courses (not BA, EC, IST, or SM) Credit(s): 15

Total: 18 credits

BBA Supporting Electives


The BBA Supporting Elective Courses consist of Business Administration (BA), Economics (EC), Information Systems & Technologies (IST) and/or Sport Management (SM) courses at the 300 or 400 level.  A minimum of 18 of these credits hours must be at the 300 or 400 level.  No more than 6 of these credit hours are at the 100 or 200 level in total.

Alternatively, the experiential learning requirement can be met through participation in experiential learning activities approved in advance by the dean or the program director.
