THDP 219 Scenic Art
This course introduces students to the materials, tools and techniques used in scenic painting and surface treatment for theatrical production. Students learn color mixing, texture creation, layout and painting methods used to replicate wood, stone, metal, fabric and other surfaces. Emphasis is placed on translating design renderings into full-scale scenic environments through hands-on projects that develop precision, creativity and craftsmanship. Collaboration, safety and professional studio practices are integral components of the course. Credit(s): 3
