POLICY 4.13.3.1 - Eligibility Sabbaticals provide periodic extended leaves from regular faculty duties to enable faculty to pursue scholarship, programs of study and/or service-learning opportunities that further their professional development and enhance the reputation of the University. A member of the faculty can apply for a sabbatical after six years of full-time service following initial appointment or the award of the most recent sabbatical. While faculty may apply after the sixth year, the sabbatical period cannot begin until the faculty member has completed seven years of full-time employment. The sabbatical year is considered a working year, and counts toward the subsequent sabbatical timeline.
