POLICY 3.6.1.1 - Purpose The purpose of the Honorary Degree Committee will be to identify for
recognition individuals who have made significant contributions in
education or government, to a profession, community or church; or, who
have made unusually meritorious contributions to Shenandoah
University. The university usually awards one of the following to an
honorary degree recipient: Doctor of Humane Letters, Doctor of
Humanities, Doctor of Divinity, Doctor of Laws, Doctor of Arts, or
Doctor of Music. Recipients must be presented the award in person,
normally at a convocation or commencement. On rare occasions the
award may be made posthumously.
