N 551 Global Health Care Learning

This course provides graduate students with the opportunity to participate in advanced practice nursing experiences and services associated with healthcare as part of a Global Experiential Learning (GEL) program. The focus is on healthcare problems, health education and healthcare delivery systems in a selected region. Students will identify healthcare needs or disparities and discuss approaches to meeting health needs for the selected population. Students will become familiar with agencies working to promote healthcare and how policy, economics, social determinants of health and cultural contexts impact or influence healthcare in a specific population. The role of advanced practice nurses in promoting health and providing healthcare in selected communities will be discussed.  Credit(s): 1-3
