LST 627 Social Movements and Societal Change

This course is an introduction to the study of social movements and collective social action. Analytical constructs include culture, collective action frames, mass media, recruitment and commitment, collective identity, mobilizing structures, strategy and tactics, and coalitions and counter movements.  Learners will examine the major theoretical frames informing the analysis of these movements, particularly social movements and contemporary events/actions.  Credit(s): 3
