ECN 571 Topics in Healthcare EconomicsThe purpose of this course is 1) to provide an overview of the economic analysis for decision making related to healthcare issues and 2) to discuss the contemporary challenges facing the American healthcare sector. This course is designed for students with sufficient knowledge in price and cost theories. Building atop these economic foundations, the course intends to examine the efficiency of healthcare delivery and its financing, demand for healthcare and insurance, government intervention and healthcare reform. At issue of this course is how healthcare markets contrast with other markets in the economy and economic analysis of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Credit(s): 3
